Treat Your Mom to a Special Mothers’ Day Brunch at One of These 12 Spots

Mothers’ Day is the one day each year where we force our mothers to stop focusing on us, and instead allow us to pamper them. For many, that means a lengthy, savory brunch. We’ve found 12 restaurants throughout the Chicago area to treat Mom this May 8.

City Experiences

If you’re looking to celebrate on the water, City Experiences has nine cruises available throughout the day on both Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. Guests can choose between morning, afternoon or dinner time slots, with meals served either buffet-style or plated, depending on the cruise. Prices range from $83 to $142 for adults, with some cruises offering discounts for children. Reserving a guaranteed window table will cost an extra $20.

Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery

For the wine-loving Mom, the Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery has a special event planned. Guests will be able to sample different varietals and learn about blending. Moms will be able to create their own blend based on their preferences, which will then be bottled, corked and given a custom label. The tasting will be accompanied by a Fondue Feast, starting with meats, breads, vegetables and cheese and concluding with a chocolate fondue of fruits, cookies and marshmallows. The cost is $85 per person.

Osteria

Found inside the DoubleTree Suites in Downers Grove, Osteria by Fabio Viviani has a brunch led by bottomless mimosas and music by acoustic artist JD Kostyk. As for the food, start off with Caprese salad, antipasto platter, smoked salmon and shrimp cocktail. They’ll have stations for meats, eggs and French toast for the main course with au gratin and O’Brien potatoes on the side.   The meal costs $76.50 for adults and $38.25 for children 4-12.  You can also add-on a gift from Starbucks, bouquet of roses or a box of Godiva chocolates.

Nellie’s

Humboldt Park’s Nellie’s bills itself as having the only restaurant in Chicago with a Puerto Rican breakfast buffet. At $30 for adults and $12 for children under 10, guests can choose from items such as coconut oatmeal, Puerto Rican friend chicken, arroz con gondules (rice with pigeon peas and pork) and sweet plantain & egg casserole as well as omelets, French toast and pancakes.

Summer House

In Lincoln Park, Summer House Santa Monica will be opening at 8:00 a.m. for the occasion. Their brunch menu includes dishes like ahi tuna & watermelon, handmade burrata and wood-grilled vegetables alongside California-inspired brunch fare and their signature pizzas.

Gaelic Park

At Gaelic Park, an Irish cultural center in Oak Forest, the Mothers’ Day buffet will be served between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. For $37.95 (adults) and $17.95 (children 4-12), guests can choose from entrees of roast beef, chicken Vesuvio and Polish sausage with sauerkraut and two types of potatoes. Kids will have their own buffet of chicken tenders, mac & cheese, French fries and corn.

Travelle

If you’re looking for a luxurious Mothers’ Day brunch, Travelle at the Langham will have a three-course prix-fixe meal. It starts with charcuterie (or a vegetarian alternative), followed by a choice of entrée or seafood and carving stations, and concludes with desert. There will also be an on-site flower shop, a station for children to make a Mothers’ Day card, as well as live music by an acoustic duo. Seating is between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and costs $225 per adult and $50 per child between 5 and 12.

Garsillo’s Italian Bar & Grill

In Palatine, Garsillo’s Italian Bar & Grill’s Mothers’ Day brunch comes with a complimentary glass of champagne. They’ll have traditional brunch options like scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon and a carving station with honey glazed ham and roast beef.  They’ll also have Italian dishes like hazelnut-crusted tilapia with lemon sauce, chicken parmigiana and Italian sausage meatballs. The meal runs $29.95 for adults and $15.95 for children 10 and under.

Daisies

At Daisies, a farm-to-table Italian restaurant in Logan Square, Mothers’ Day brunch will be served family-style. It begins with a pastry board (oat bars, coffee cake, ricotta pierogi with jam), followed by one of three entrées from a menu of eight, served along with breakfat potatoes and a side salad for the table to share.  The price is $45 per person, with a $10 per person deposit required.  Children under 12 eat free.

Farmhouse

Evanston’s Farmhouse is celebrating Mothers’ Day all day. In addition to a main buffet that includes a prime rib carving station, ham with a honey maple glaze and seared salmon with glazed carrots and toasted pecans, among other offerings, there will be a separate dessert bar.   And, they’ll also have a brunch buffet until 3:00 p.m. All of this will be followed by a dinner buffet that includes herb-crusted pork loin with cherry preserves, braised short ribs in a red wine glaze and cheddar grits. The cost is $42 per adult and $20 for children under 10.

The Duck Inn

The Duck Inn in Bridgeport is throwing their fifth annual Mommapalooza. Their $68 prix-fixe brunch starts with sharable plates such as smoked salmon on everything bagels and jumbo prawns and oysters. Guests can choose an entrée (duck hash, cherry French toast, avocado toast or spring vegetable omelet) and shared sides. The meal concludes with shared dessert (cookies & pop-tarts, strawberry shortcake with boozy whipped cream, chocolate miso brownie).

Mango Pickle

If you want something lighter but exotic, check out the Anglo-Indian high tea at Edgewater’s acclaimed Mango Pickle. They’ll have sweet and savory small plates such as Goan sausage, chocolate-filled samosas, and vegetable and chutney finger sandwiches. Everything can be paired with their masala chai and herbal teas. Reservations for up to six people must be pre-paid, and cost $39 per person.
