My Block My Hood My City: 3rd Annual Downtown Day Location: Chicago Loop Date: July 19th, 2025 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

🌧️On a rainy summer day, hundreds of Chicago youth from the South and West sides experienced a fun day of exploration and empowerment in the heart of the city. Local nonprofit My Block My Hood My City invited 1000 kids to the 3rd annual Downtown Day, offering them $50 pre-paid debit cards, 💳 free and discounted downtown experiences, and three eATLAS Adventures to guide them.

From the Loop to the Mag Mile, Navy Pier, and Museum Campus, participants explored parts of the city most had never seen before. For many, it was a chance to see themselves in spaces often considered out of reach. My Block My Hood My City founder Jahmal Cole challenged them all to “have goals as big as the skyscrapers.”

🏆The top finisher for each Adventure won an additional debit card, and while the competition was cooled by the heavy rain, you can see from the photos below that everyone had a lot of fun exploring the city. Because as the Millennium Park crowd chanted that morning, “Downtown belongs to everybody!”
